On Wednesday 4th February, the Eden Valley Chamber of Commerce held its AGM, with one of the key moments being the appointment of a new Chair – Nadine Rooke-Bates of Halo Hair Design.  After almost 15 years at the helm, Peter Kingham has stepped down from the Chamber to focus on his well-deserved retirement.

The past few years have been an unusual and challenging time for the Chamber, navigating the impact of Covid alongside the sad loss of our previous Chair, Anita Black.  Now, the Chamber is ready to move forward into a new chapter, guided by Nadine’s enthusiasm and a newly formed Executive Committee made up of:

  • Laura Lawrence – The Edenbridge Magazine
  • Stef Smith – Eden Bakes
  • Marissa Reeves – The Old Eden
  • Morteza Balaie– Pinocchios Coffee House
  • Natalie Janali – JTK Candle Co.
  • Sarah Dilnot – Lamorna Retreat / PPHS

Nadine Rooke-Bates and Peter Kingham - Eden Valley Chamber of Commerce

During the meeting, the group reflected on the many achievements initiated by Peter during his long leadership.  Looking ahead, the Chamber plans to reintroduce several successful initiatives for members, including regular networking events and a monthly business newsletter.  The Chamber will also continue to support the popular Motor Show, although the event is now managed by Thunderstruck Events.

Looking to the future, Nadine and her team have a host of exciting ideas, with a renewed focus on the High Street and more frequent events designed to attract both residents and visitors into town.  The first of these is Love Edenbridge Day, taking place on Saturday 7th March.  The High Street will remain open to traffic, while paved areas and courtyards will be filled with local market stalls showcasing handmade goods, crafts and many of the town’s fantastic organisations.

More events are planned throughout the year, so keep an eye out for what’s coming next.

Local businesses interested in finding out more about the Chamber are encouraged to visit www.edenvalleychamber.org.uk.  Membership is open to all local businesses, from self-employed home workers to factories on the industrial estates.  Or come and join us at our next meeting to be held at The Old Eden at 5.30pm for a 6pm start on Monday 23rd March
