In the Galleries
The museum opened in February with a new display ‘The Canterbury Collection’, ceramic plates depicting scenes of Edenbridge.
Our first Object of Interest for 2025 is a Silver Attendance and Good Conduct Medal awarded to Ivy Seal for perfect attendance and good conduct at the National School, Church Street, Edenbridge 1913 – 1919. Both of these are on display in the ground floor gallery.
Our continuing displays are: ‘Healthcare in our Town’, ‘The Story of Bough Beech Reservoir’, and ‘Edenbridge Crested China’. This year the museum will celebrate its 25th anniversary in June with new exhibitions throughout the galleries from June and a special event on Saturday 28th June, details to be announced.
Museum Shop
Over the past year we have been developing our small shop to better reflect the ethos of the museum, to show support for local businesses, and to provide a retail experience not otherwise available in Edenbridge. We have been focussing particularly on local publications, local crafts, toiletry and food products, and children’s pocket money items. We are particularly proud to present a range of items produced exclusively for the museum, such as our popular calendar, the Edenbridge tea towel and beautiful keyrings and magnets made for us by Amber Joy in her studio just over the Sussex border. Coming soon will be local pottery and we have also restocked with delicious Groombridge honey.
Do call in and see us when the museum is open – you will find items not available elsewhere locally, you will be supporting local people and you will be contributing financially to your local museum, now entirely volunteer-led. Children’s Activities
There will be an Easter themed FREE activity session on Tuesday 15th April, followed by another session on Tuesday 27th May (summer half term) and every Tuesday during August.
