Genuine Care Homecare Services was started in 2008 by Kathy Maslen following a long career working in the care sector. She became disillusioned with the industry and felt that companies were more worried about invoices than they were people. Kathy wanted to create a company which reflected her own values and passion for care.
Over the years this local firm has grown from strength to strength to meet the needs of an ever ageing population who require care at home in order to live well and remain in their own homes.
Genuine Care’s services include domiciliary and live-in care and as well as covering the local Edenbridge area, their clients stretch from North West Kent and East Surrey to London and the South East.
Genuine Care provide person-centred packages, ensuring their clients are treated with dignity and respect. All enquiries are reviewed on an individual basis to ensure the correct amount of time is allocated to be able to meet the needs of the clients who will be receiving care.
Kathy and her team’s passion for delivering outstanding care is evident in her latest CQC Inspection Report where she is rated as Outsanding in 3 areas and Good in 2 areas – so you can be rest assured of the quality and standards of care delivered by the team. The report includes overwhelming feedback from people, relatives, health and social care professionals, commissioners and staff. CQC also state that the Genuine Care staff are well trained, highly caring and competent.
Going above and beyond seems to be what Kathy does best. When you meet her, her enthusiasm for care is infectious – she was recently at the Houses of Parliament where she has been campaigning for care sector workers to
receive recognition as skilled workers (currently they are not). Kathy has received industry awards for her services and ethics, including the ‘Putting People First’ award, part of the Great British Care Awards.
She is also a member of a Parliamentary Review panel so she can input into and vote on bills which go through Parliament. Genuine Care are always on the look out for more staff to meet the demands for their services. As long as you have a passion for making a difference to people’s lives, they will support you through the training process – no experience is required. You will also have the opportunity to gain qualifications whilst you are working and also develop a career in the care industry.
Genuine Care has recently been expanding their premises in order to launch a new drop-in facility for people to come to and find out more about options for providing care for either themselves or family members and finding out what support is available and how to apply for it. Care for the elderly can be such a minefield – a facility like this will help so many understand better what is out there.
