Causeway Joinery was established over 30 years ago by Mr Albert Ellis.  Its current owner Paul Chapman started as an apprentice at 16 years old with Bert and when Bert wanted to retire in 2001, Paul took the opportunity to buy the business from him.  At this time is was a smaller business employing 3 joiners, including Paul.  The business suffered a major fire in 2007 resulting in a total loss of the premises and work in progress, but Paul used the opportunity to increase the workshop space and invest in some time saving machinery to make the business more competitive.

Paul is a familiar face in Edenbridge, having lived in the town since he was three with his family and then also with his own family after he married.  He was also a retained fireman for the Edenbridge fire service for a number of years, leaving about 5 years ago to concentrate on the business.

Causeway Joinery has grown to a team of 6 joiners including Paul, and Kerry (Paul’s sister) who is based in the office managing business administration as well as kitchen design.

The team carry out work on listed and period properties as well as new builds and have also been featured on TV show Grand Designs where they supplied windows for a house.

The team work with a variety of timbers, some of the more popular ones are: European Oak, Hardwoods, Softwoods and Accoya.  Their timber suppliers have been chosen very carefully to ensure the best quality materials are used in their work.
