We are very pleased to announce that we shall be hosting the ECCA Christmas Extravaganza this year in Edenbridge High Street on Saturday 27th November between 1-6pm.
Last year the committee organised a Virtual Santa’s Grotto which enabled the younger members of our community to have a pre-booked video meeting with Father Christmas and this year we will have a return to more normal events but with necessary precautions in place.
The High Street will again be filled with stalls selling food and gifts as well as the rides which proved very popular. Local businesses wishing to book a stall will get priority booking so please do get in touch soon, as we have already had a great response.
As in previous years, our High Street shops and businesses will also be open and equally form part of the event.
We’d like to thank Edenbridge Bonfire Society for providing their stage from where performances from local singing groups and bands will be taking place. This will be located further down the High Street to allow for maximum pedestrian space in front of the performance area.
Other highlights will be the 1940s style tea rooms in Rickards Hall which, this year, will be in recognition of the NHS and it’s formative years. Cakes provided by residents and local businesses will be on sale and if you’d like to donate a cake, please email info@theecca.co.uk.
Our Santa’s Grotto will be outside in the car park of Monkey Puzzle and to avoid queues we are asking people to pre-book and details of how to do this will be available from our Facebook page – @edenbridgecommunitychristmas
The Christmas lights will be making a welcome return. Not many people know but the power for these lights is provided free of charge by numerous high street businesses. It is this random supply which means that whilst all of the lights can come on, it may not necessarily be at the same time. Our lights team have worked over the last few years to improve this.
This year there will be a special set of lights outside of Quality Tandoori in memory of the late Mr Ali. He was a huge supporter of the Christmas lights and the restaurant provides power for the Christmas tree too. The new restaurant owner, Mr Chowdray, is keen to continue this support.
Unlike in previous years, there will be no formal switch on of the lights due to concerns about large numbers of people gathering but they will come on during the event.
There will also be hand sanitising points at the road closure points and on the ECCA stall in the High Street. Our team members will be available on the day and you’ll be able to recognise them with their decorated Hi-Vis jackets. Should you have any questions on the day then they will be happy to help you.
The Santa Sleigh Tour around Edenbridge will also be taking place this year. The route and date will be advertised soon!
