IMAG0496Edenbridge RFC was formed by Ross Davies (who played for Beckenham at that time) and some of his colleagues in the King and Queen pub in Edenbridge on 1st March 1977. The club was founded on the values of friendliness, sportsmanship and ambition, and these remain today, as does Ross as a key supporter and sponsor.

In that first year, ERFC played 30 games, winning six of them and Lenny Jones, the landlord of the King and Queen, provided the beer and equipment for match days.  Edenbridge now enjoys some of the finest facilities in the county.

The club plays on Lingfield Road Recreation Ground, Coomb Field,  just behind Edenbridge town centre, and has a substantially SAM_0346refurbished clubhouse which was originally built in 1987.  The clubhouse enjoys excellent bar and kitchen facilities, with views over the hills towards the South Downs and is open to full playing club members and social members alike.

Edenbridge has a first and second senior team, the ‘Academy’ for 16 to 18 year olds, a Youth group for under 13s to under 16s and Mini Rugby for under 7s to under 12s.  For the youngest members at 4 to 6 years, there is the Bridge Broncos.  For the coming season ERFC are keen to build on their existing playing numbers and hope to welcome as many new recruits into the Club as possible, in all age groups.

2016 07 05.3The coming 2016-17 season looks to be a great one for ERFC who welcome players of all age groups and standards.  Whether you are a player, a parent, or just someone who wishes to support their local team, the welcome will be the same.

What can you expect?  Social Touch Rugby and training both take place weekly for all age groups, with the bar open after seniors’ training, please see web site for details.  Pre-season training isn’t just about fitness.  Of course everyone is keen to get into shape for the season ahead, but it is important to get the ball involved as soon as possible to make training fun.  Sessions will be headed up by our experienced Head Coach and run throughout the summer months prior to the start of the season in September.

We are excited about the future, why not join us and be part of it?
