Jazz Dynamos Lucy on stage

In a splendid celebration of our new home, complete with an exceptional roof that’s perfect for stargazing, we’ve programmed an unprecedented array of star-studied events this year.

The inaugural week in our new festival venue boasts a diverse mix, from jazz and opera to musical performances, family fun and comedy – there’s truly something for everyone.

THE RONNIE SCOTT’S CLUB shines in our lineup presenting three distinct performances this year by Ronnie’s celebrated ensembles. JAZZ DYNAMOS featuring LUCY RANDELL RE-IMAGINING HITS FROM THE 70’s & 80’s (Sat 25th May 8pm) will be the first act to open our new theatre on the Two Sisters’ Lawn.

Other spring treats include opera magic with FORBEAR! THEATRE as they perform HMS PINAFORE by Gilbert & Sullivan (Sat 1st June 2pm & 8pm). Local companies NIGHT OWLS bring THE CAROLE KING & JAMES TAYLOR STORY (Sun 16th June 8pm) and the wonderful TRINITY YOUTH THEATRE are set to enchant with Disney’s FROZEN JR (Wed 29th May 3pm & 7.30pm). Family entertainment continues with ILLYRIA’S new fun and exciting high-energy musical comedy THE ADVENTURES OF DOCTOR DOITTLE (Fri 31st May 2pm). Hugh Lofting’s timeless classic celebrates the power of empathy and inspires audiences young and old to see the world through the eyes of animals.

The first of two COMEDY AT THE CASTLE events with GRINSTOCK COMEDY CLUB (Fri 31st May 8pm) will bring the country’s leading comedians from the UK National Circuit to Hever. This marks our 3rd year collaborating with the award-winning, Sussex-based comedy club. We can’t wait to present their incredibly hilarious live comedy shows once again.

Festival Director Alsa Molyneux says, “We couldn’t be more delighted to rise like a phoenix from the flames with this fabulous new structure. Still open-air with the safety of a roof through which you can stargaze and admire the trees. Outdoor theatre has just become even more brilliant in the beautiful gardens of Hever Castle. Please come and join us this summer and see for yourselves.”
