Driver Rob is ready for your custom

It has been more obvious in the press and news coverage about how we behave when we go about weekly tasks such as shopping but what changes have some of our other businesses been having to make in order to keep their customers safe and continue to deliver their services?

All of our local businesses have been adapting to the ever changing guidance coming from the government, in order so they can maintain their services in as safe a way as possible.  One local businesses which hasn’t stopped during this pandemic has been our local taxi firm, RelyOn Cars.

During March, April and May they were taking key workers to hospitals for work.  They also saw an increase in the number of our older residents requesting transportation to the supermarkets for their weekly shop as their usual arrangements had been disrupted.

The RelyOn drivers have been wearing face masks since the very beginning and ensuring their vehicles are kept clean – wiping internal and extrenal door handles and regularly using anti-bacterial gels after each fare.  Passengers are also requested to wear face masks when travelling, unless of course they are exempt.

It’s been a testing time for businesses who have had to adapt to each change in legislation to continue operating, almost a full time job in itself, but you can rest assured RelyOn are doing all that they have to in order to keep their passengers and their staff as safe as possible during these current times.

Further recent changes in legislation has seen the number of passengers allowed in the vehicles increase.  RelyOn are encouraging those who are booking a group of 4 or more to please request their minibus in order that they can maintain social distance between their drivers and passengers.

With the schools now back (a relief to many so I have heard) drivers have now been issued with electronic thermometers so they can take the temperatures of any children they are transporting as another way of reducing risk.  Hand sanitiser is also kept in the back of each vehicle for passengers’ use.

The majority of journeys through RelyOn are pre-booked online or over the phone but they are still able to take walk-in requests at their offices on Station Approach – simply follow the instructions on the door before you walk in.  Payments can be made contactlessly by card or cash payments are still welcome.

You can book your next taxi journey online at www.relyoncars.co.uk, call them on 01732 863800 or drop them an email at contact@relyoncars.co.uk with your requirements.
