A Cavalcade of Noël and Cole
at 2pm & 8pm on 26th July 2024
As the summer sun dips beneath the horizon, the enchanting grounds of The Festival Theatre at Hever Castle will come alive once more with the melodies of two of the 20th century’s greatest musical legends, Noël Coward and Cole Porter. This season, ANOTHER WAY THEATRE is thrilled to announce their return with a soirée that promises to take you on a journey through the sparkling repertoire of these iconic composers.
A CAVALCADE OF NOEL AND COLE will feature timeless classics such as Coward’s Mad About the Boy and Mad Dogs and Englishman and Porter’s Anything Goes and Brush Up Your Shakespeare. Although they cannot promise to encompass the full breadth of this limitless catalogue, due to the sheer volume of their combined works, each chosen piece is sure to delight, keep toes tapping and spirits soaring.
Following their acclaimed production of JANE EYRE in 2022, director and Edenbridge resident, Chris Chambers, is excited to be performing alongside his wife Nicky Chambers, revisiting The Festival Theatre at Hever Castle’s captivating new stage, now adorned with a spectacular, transparent covered roof that lets the evening stars peek through, adding an extra touch of magic to every performance.
Chris and Nicky are delighted to be joined by Mark Fleming who is on loan from one of Britain’s great a cappella singing groups The London Quartet (formerly Cantabile) and to welcome back Jane Eyre cast members, Elódie Richards and Becca Lamburn and from their Hamlet cast, Jan Szafranski. Each will be adding their unique flair and exquisite harmonies and navigating you through this clever cavalcade will be the flamboyant and witty narrator, Brian Miller who will also introduce some surprise guest singers.
The evening will be beautifully underscored by the brilliant Musical Director, Guy Norris. Combining live piano with his own remarkable orchestrations he will ensure each note resonates with the wit and sophistication of these icons. Coward and Porter shared a unique camaraderie, often inspiring and admiring each other’s work. Both were masters of the art of songcraft, known for their clever lyrics and memorable melodies. Their music transcends time and offers insights into the glamorous and often tumultuous world of the early 20th century.
Another Way Theatre’s A CAVALCADE OF NOËL AND COLE is not just a show; it’s a celebration of music, memories and the magical connection between past and present. Why not take your own picnic or book ‘theatre, castle gardens and afternoon tea’ tickets and enjoy the picturesque scenery of Hever Castle’s gardens before an unforgettable performance experience that combines the best of British heritage with a cavalcade of unparalleled entertainment.
